So..if water, biking, walking, mountain and city views aren't your thing....how about the Vancouver Aquarium??? It was amazing.
It is home to over 70,000 inhabitants.
This is an incredible jelly fish that is actually from the Pacific coast waters? Who knew?
I find jelly fish mesmerizing to watch. They move so slowly and gracefully.
I was telling this fellow, that I saw his cousin in the harbour in Nanaimo?
Crabby guy?? lol.
There is also a Rainforest that is wide open to walk within the Aquarium facility. With butterflies fluttering around....these great birds quietly and not so quietly watching everyone come in. They don't stay still for long....difficult to get a great shot.
Crocodiles....pondering if they can eat us???
The aquarium is inside the building, on at least 3 floors. There are wall to floor views of the whales and fish, as well as it extends outside to see them above water.
I believe these are sea lions (above)....they were quite busy.
An adorable little seal, I think. He was more apt to pose for pictures.
Oh my gosh.....these little African peguins, to me, were the best thing ever. They moved so funny, with the spirit of love of course.
They are so tiny. About 1 and 1/2 feet tall....maybe. They did a little swimming while we were there. They were curious about a piece of paper the trainer accidentally dropped in the water when the wind caught it. They followed her around like little soldiers while she retrieved it. Actually, when she talked about them, it appeared like they were listening.
There were two Beluga whales at the Aquarium. Pure white and very interesting looking.
It was awesome to see them do their tricks and swim around above the tanks of water, but to really get a view of their size, below the water was better. Deb put on a wet suit and took this picture.
What a great picture to end the visit with. We are sensitive to critters in captivity. We actually don't like to see them in zoos, or aquariums. But the water creatures here are rescues.
This little seal was having so much fun with this ball. He/she seemed really happy....at home.
Hint: Deb didn't put on a wetsuit....
