One of the many walking trails that explore Stanley Park.
Deb happy on her trolley ride.
An interesting story about this 1100 year old tree. By the time the 2006 devastating wind storm hit Stanley Park this wee tree was already very fragile. The wind storm knocked it down and the citizens of Vancouver, with generous private donations, paid to have engineers place it up right, secured it with steel rods, and save it for another 1100 years....God willing.
An 800 year old tree still standing.
The wind storm of 2006 destroyed more than 10,000 trees in Stanley Park. The view of West Vancouver, near Prospect Point in Stanley Park, before the storm was difficult because of the dense forest of trees. After the wind storm, it is a relatively clear view across the water. We understand that Stanley Park's forest actually saved the city of Vancouver from the brunt of the devastation, taking the full impact.
Stay tuned for the Vancouver Aquarium blog tomorrow.....
